Warehouse Employee Job Description
Department: 301, 302 & 309 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Work Schedule: Flexible shift schedules, 8 or 10-hour schedules, Including days, nights or weekends.
Job Status: Full Time Reports To: Warehouse Shift-Team Supervisor Amount of Travel Required: No travel required
Positions Supervised: None
Receive, stock, count, pick, load product entering and leaving warehouse to ensure overall satisfaction of business and customer needs. Operate moving machinery, including forklifts, pallet jacks, shrink wrappers, etc. In a warehouse work environment.
Quickly, accurately and efficiently build and pull customer shipment orders. Neatly palletize product. Secure product to pallet by means of electric film wrap machine or manual use of hand film.
Efficiently and safely operate machinery, such as forklift and for pallet jack, electric and/or manual. Follow all safety policies and procedures and encourage team members to do the same.
Efficiently and accurately utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and perform job to ensure accurate inventory of stored product.
Maintain a clean work area during shift and heavily clean at end of shift, prior to overlap with oncoming shift.
Any other duties to support the overall success of the business and the needs of our customers, as deemed necessary by management.
Role may include specialty focus on Will Call. If so, major tasks include: Expedite the will call process by unloading goods from shelves in a timely manner for delivery to showroom customers. Load selected goods to/from customers' mode of transport. Aid showroom personnel by loading/unloading shelves from assigned inventory lists. Handle all customer communications with courtesy and professionalism and provide feedback to customer service personnel relating to any customer Issues.
Role may include specialty focus on Letdown I Bin Maintenance. If so, major tasks include: run variety of reports relating to let down bin maintenance. Regularly re-stocks warehouse locations as directed by let-down report. Notify supervisor of any trends relating to stocking of warehouse locations.
Role may include specialty focus on Stocking. If so, major tasks include: load and unload goods to/from storage areas (racks, shelves, etc.); verify purchase order counts against physical counts of goods; perform other duties as outlined by BWI SOP Manual.
Role may include specialty focus on Grounds & Housekeeping I Janitorial. If so, major tasks include: maintain lawn & grounds neatly manicured. Involves, but is not limited to, mowing grass, edging lawn, trimming hedges, applying fertilizer, etc. Empty trash at end of shift. Sweep, mop vacuum as needed. Monitor condition and clean restrooms and breakrooms. Maintain hand towel and soap dispensers. Keep warehouse floors swept and scrubbed, as needed. Aid keeping product locations clear of debris.
Role may Include specially focus on Warehouse Maintenance. If so, major tasks include: Manage all facility maintenance, preventative and repair related, to support safe and efficient warehouse operation; maintain accurate maintenance records; changing of air conditioner fillers; painting as needed; maintaining adequate water levels in all batteries; maintaining clean battery storage area needed; maintaining adequate water levels in all batteries; maintaining clean battery storage area and batteries clear of acidic discharge; fire extinguisher maintenance and record keeping; assist Warehouse Manager in managing relationships with
outside maintenance/repair vendors; obtain quotes for work orders and present to warehouse manager for approval.
Role may include specialty focus on Inventory Control Coordination. If so, major tasks include the following: Run inventory control reports, coordinate inventory control functions performed by other warehouse employees, oversee functioning of the WMS; accurate record-keeping of inventory adjustments, damage, trip returns and inter- company shipments; act as back-up to the shift supervisor; follow standards set forth by BWI Standard Operating Procedures Manual as outlined in the inventory control section.
Role may include specialty focus on Receiving. If so, major tasks include: responsibility for the proper count and identification of product unloaded from all sources to be received Into warehouse inventory; must be able to follow all WMS procedures with minimum of supervision; must be knowledgeable in the put-away process of inventory; must be able to accurately and efficiently complete all paper work involved to ensure that no critical backup documents become lost or over looked; must be able to receive training for other warehouse responsibilities as they become available.
Role may Include specialty focus on Seed Coordination. If so, major tasks may Include (but not be limited to): ensuring that all regulated seed meets all local, state & federal requirements before being offered for sale; checking the inventory on hand; inspecting product received for stock; relabeling seed carried over from one season to another; breaking down seed packages into sizes needed for sale; accurate recordkeeping of seed related matters; pulling samples of seed for testing; submission of samples to testing agencies; resolution of seed-related Issues as identified by slate plant boards; Inventory count and reconciliation, and serving as a liaison between sales, customers, and management In seed matters.
Role may include specialty focus on Trip Returns. If so, major tasks Include: Inspect documentation provided by drivers, sales representatives, or other parties for completeness and accuracy; exercise good judgment as to whether product is resalable; accurately stock the product In the correct location using the WMS system; Dispose of damaged goods returned for credit, per warehouse manager's direction: keep up with all documentation relating to the care of the returned items.
Role may include specialty focus on UPS Shipping Coordinator. If so, major tasks Include: coordinate all processes within the UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc. area of business; prepare and ship orders: reconcile daily using web based order-tracking software:
ensure daily shipments are processed and shipped In a timely and cost efficient manner; answer questions related to unshipped! shipped freight; maintain an accurate inventory of shipping supplies.
